This was not originally a house. The garage doors have a ramp, that's indicative of truck access. Also, the cars are parked next to the building. This is/was a commercial building.

Having lived in a number of areas in and around Madrid (for almost a decade), it became quite obvious to me that homes that appear to be boring on the outside, are almost always glorious on the inside. Courtyards, patios, lanais, gardens, fountains - just an amazing number of beautiful features that you'd not expect. Actually, the more plain a building might seem externally was typically just the opposite inside. The concept of "curb appeal" is simply not their concern...

I agree. A lot of these houses aren't really my taste, but not everyone is a freak like me either. I live in a teeny house that other people wouldn't even consider, but I love it.
I really don't see the issue with half of these. Normal rural houses or weekend cottages. But l'm Spanish, so 🤷🏻♀️.
I am not Spanish and see no issue with the majority of this list. A house doesn't need to be a glass box (windows on every available wall), especially in warm places. (Or cold). Also, some are just built or expanded within limits: be it streets, covered old houses with added dakramen/dakkapel (the extruded windows on a sloping roof) so you can stand up straight and have some light in the attic.
At least they have a home...
